8-man football: Bates boosts Capital City Outlaws

JOLIET — Marcus Bates scored four touchdowns four different ways Sunday to lead the Capital City Outlaws to a 51-24 8-Man Football League win.
Bates returned the game’s opening kickoff 46 yards to get the scoring started. Bates also scored on a 17-yard rushing touchdown, a 13-yard pass reception from Dan Eck and a 30-yard interception return.
Bates compiled 240 total yards. Quarterback Dan Eck completed 10-of-18 passes for 50 yards for the Outlaws (4-0). Erik Kahrliker caught three passes for 69 yards and a touchdown. It was the 10th straight game Kahrliker caught a TD pass.
